The Invention of Carpet Cleaners

by James Boehringer

Carpet cleaners were invented shortly after the carpets themselves. A hand held was the first carpet cleaner made and tested in Chicago in the year 1860. Cecil Booth invented the first power-operated vacuum in the 1900s.

James Spangler created a vacuum cleaner shortly after Cecil Booth’s invention. James later sold it to his cousin, Hoover, and now this name is synonymous with vacuum cleaners and can be found in almost every home around the world.

The carpet cleaner was deemed to be a miracle and a wonderful invention especially for housewives because it aided in cleaning the house and required little effort. At first, the vacuum cleaners were built to only pick up dust and dirt but as technology improved over time the inventors introduced wet cleaners that killed germs and steamed cleaned carpets simultaneously.

Looking at carpets, you will find that it is capable of blanketing a floor of a flat, house or bungalow and it also keeps people’s feet really warm during the wintertime. Back in the old days, people had to sweep their carpets. However, with the vacuum cleaner being invented, users are able to easily remove the dirt and dust from their carpets with a lot less effort. Since corporations, businesses and apartments required someone to clean all of their carpets, the invention of the commercial vacuum cleaner followed soon after.

The vacuum cleaner possesses a pump system and that is what allows it to operate. The pump system works by sucking up the air from the hose, which in turns sucks up the dust and dirt from anything that stands out in the hoses opening. In the inside of the vacuum cleaner, you will find a filtering system that has the ability to collect dirt and dust that can later be taken out and placed in the garbage.

There is a variety of vacuum cleaners on the market today: Canister, Upright, Robotic, Built-in, Backpack style, Hand held and Wet/Dry.

Your requirements will determine what kind of vacuum cleaner to purchase. With many styles, power sizes and voltages available, the actual task of carpet cleaning seems to be effortless.

The cyclone carpet cleaner is one of the better inventions and upgrades in the history of vacuum cleaners. The dust and dirt from your home is collected in a large cylinder. The vacuum cleaner operates with a combination of central air force and filters. The dirt is filtered in stages in order that the air going into the cylinder is cleaned and released back out into the air through a central outlet.
