I am Thinking About Christian Homeschooling

by Kayley Kenzie

You’ve probably given a great deal of thought to the reasons why you would want to homeschool your children. The reasons might focus on your lifestyle, a better education, or medical problems.

Many people homeschool for religious reasons, which is why Christian homeschooling has become more popular. Parents like the thought of encouraging Christian values in addition to guiding their own children’s learning.

Public education doesn’t teach absolute values as much as it used to. But when you homeschool, you can do exactly that.

If you are a Christian and considering Christian homeschooling, you may want to think about a few things. First of all, if the intolerance of your religious preference in public school is troubling you, this might be a good decision.

When you’re in charge of teaching your children in the privacy of your own home, you can speak freely about God and the Bible. You don’t have to worry about being criticized just for saying “God.”

On the other hand, this may not be a great enough reason to homeschool your children. When a child’s beliefs are practiced in a school setting, they can learn how to interact with others who are non-Christians. They can also be a good example to others and show them what Christians are really like.

Also, there are even Christian private schools that incorporate Christian values and doctrines in their curriculum. Unfortunately, schools like these tend to be expensive. Fortunately, Christian homeschooling is a solid option.

You might have other reasons to homeschool your children, such as violence in school, or not wanting your children to have to switch from one school to another if your family is in the military.

If your reasons for homeschooling lies in some of these categories, it’s definitely worth considering.

If you want to have the most influence over what your children learn, and you want them to learn Christian values, Christian homeschooling is a good option. If the idea of choosing curriculum intimidates you, there are plenty of support groups that can help.

There are support groups that can support you on an emotional level, and there are support groups that can give your children opportunities to socialize.
