Hot Tub History

Hot tubs are a luxury that many people cannot live without, and many more wish they had. When you think of the humble beginnings of hot tubs, it is really quite astounding at how they have been developed over the centuries.

Hot tubs can be traced back to the early Roman era, where at that time, hot tubs were located in spas and available to all who wished to use them. Women and men both frequented the local spa.

There was a time when hot tubs and spas were luxuries of only the elite. To own one was a status symbol that you could afford the finer things in life. Early consumer Hot tubs used to be only in back yards or on the deck of your home. They were large and bulky and were very expensive to own and maintain.

There is such a range of different materials and sizes of tubs available today that you will almost certainly be able to find one to fit the space you have at home. Indoor or outdoor, you are no longer restricted to bulky and inefficient designs of the past.

Hot tubs come in many different sizes. You can purchase one that contains two seats, for an intimate evening, or, if you entertain a lot, you can install one that seats up to ten people; the choice is yours. In the past, hot tub seats were uniform, in a bench style that allowed everyone to be at the same level. It was at times very uncomfortable for those who were either tall or short. Today, with the different materials that hot tubs are made of, you can have your choice of multi-level seating.

The spray jets of hot tubs have improved greatly over the years. Manually powered jets were replace by electrically powered jets of many different types. The range of jets comprises of swirling jets, whirlpool jets, mini jets, pillow jets, shoulder jets and massaging jets. Each type has its own use and benefit, but one thing is for certain, get into a modern hot tub and you not want to get back out.

Hot tubs also have reputed medical benefits. The major one being that when used as part of a therapy session, the patient often recovers faster and with less stress to their bodies. Hot tub hydrotherapy has been used for several decades and has had great success.
