Easy Ways To Clean Your Blinds
There is one household chore that most of us dread, and that is cleaning our blinds. This chore can be very frustrating and time consuming, but it must be done because these home accessories seem to be dust magnets.
There are tips and hints that can make cleaning your blinds much easier and more pleasant, so that you do not put it off any longer.
Using your household vacuum cleaner is quick and easy especially if you have a brush attachment for it. The brush will stop the dust from flying everywhere and will capture the dirt immediately.
Who would have ever considered using socks? Put your hand in the sock as if it were a hand puppet and make sure it is wet, then, put the dry sock on your other hand. Wipe the blinds with the wet sock and dry the blinds with the dry sock. You will be done in no time at all.
Paintbrushes are not just for painting anymore. By using a clean, small brush it is very effective because the brush fits easily in between each slat and they can be cleaned with one swift hand motion.
By letting your blinds soak in the sink, it removes the hassle of standing at your window cleaning each slat separately. You must remove them from their window attachment and place them in hot soapy water with a dash of vinegar. Leave them in the sink for about half hour to an hour then rinse them off thoroughly and lay them to dry before putting them back up. If you have wood or cloth blinds, this method of cleaning is not suggested. Soaking your blinds is only good for aluminums or vinyl.
There are specific tools advertised that are intended for cleaning blinds, with fingers or other appendages that fit between the slats perfectly. Some of these devices work just as they were designed to, however some of these devices may be ineffective or hard to use, not to mention overpriced. The best way to make cleaning your blinds easy is to do this chore frequently, so that dust and dirt do not have a chance to build up and accumulate. This will ensure that your blinds stay clean and look great all the time.
For wood blinds use a soft cloth and wipe the slats with a spray. Pledge is an example of a spray that helps to eliminate dust and dirt while nourishing the wood too. This process leaves the wood shining and looking new and reduces the possibility of cracks at the same time. Whatever type of material your blinds are made of regular cleaning will keep them looking like brand new.
