How to Tame a Dominant Dog

Friday, July 18th, 2008
by Joseph Then

Have you ever imagined how it feels like having a pet? Well, maybe you have. I am sure you will be very excited because there is an addition to the household.

What am I talking about? Well, I am talking about you getting a new pet! After picking up the dog of your choice and bringing the pet home, you realize that your pet is quite dominant and hard to control. What should you do? The first thing that comes to your mind is that you should train your dog. But, before you start on anything, ask yourself this; do you really know what you are doing? Do you know what you are going to train? Do you even know how to train a dog? Well, just like with any tasks, don’t come unprepared. You should understand and also acquire the knowledge first.

If you haven’t already known this, a dog is a descendant of wolves. I am sure that you know dogs have been domesticated thousands of years before but there is also another thing that you should know. There are some characteristics similar to a wolf that is by instinct ingrained within your pet. An example would be how it does things. The dog uses its sense of smell to tell its surroundings. Unlike us, we use all our five senses. What I am trying to say is that although dos have been domesticated for thousands of years now, they still retain some of their most basic instincts. You have to keep that in mind before going off to tame your dog.

So what do you do when you feel that the time is right for you to train your dog? Wait! There are a few thing s you need to keep in mind. They are: Focus, Take Control and claim all things as your possession that is inside the house, of course.

Let’s talk about focus and why you need this. Sometimes it can be challenging to keep your cool especially if your dog is too annoying. So do you resort to using a stick and beating up your pet? Or yelling at your dog? That won’t do you any good. What you can do instead is be calm, steady and always remain firm. Whenever you start training or working with your dog remain consistently calm.

The next part of training is taking control. How do you take control? No, you do not yell. Instead, you should always maintain eye contact and make sure that you are firm when teaching your dog new things. By maintaining this, you will let your dog know that you are in charge and the one who has the authority. The submissive dogs will look away but not the dominant ones. Therefore, you should always remember to look your dog in the eyes and be firm.

Last, claim all things as yours whether this is about toys, food, rugs and so on stand your ground. Only once your dog understands that you are the one in charge should you allow your pet to share things with you.

Now that you are armed with this knowledge, you can continue teaching your pet. Sometimes, it requires some time until the desired results are achieved. Not only you should keep this in mind, you should always remember to give tender loving care to your pet.

How to Care for Your Havanese

by Fiona Kelly

Are you thinking about adding a Havanese puppy to your family? These cute little creatures can make wonderful family pets, whether your clan consists of adults only, a brood of kids or even other animals in the house. But any new pet will come with its own unique set of concerns and care issues, and Havanese are certainly no exception to this rule. If you are seriously considering a Havanese, the first thing you will want to do is research the various aspects of Havanese care to ensure that you will be able to offer your new puppy the best home possible for him to grow and thrive.

Part of Havanese care is to concern yourself with specific aspects of Havanese health, so that you know what types of problems to need to be aware of with your dog. It is also important to know what the requirements of your dog will be in terms of grooming, and diet and exercise. By preparing for your Havanese care in these three aspects, you will be ready to bring that adorable puppy home and make it a part of your family.

The first step in assuring good Havanese health is to educate yourself about some of the genetic medical issues that are typical for this breed. While the Havanese is a relatively healthy breed with a long life expectancy, all breeds have a few problems that you will need to watch out for.

By having a knowledge of these Havanese health problems before you select your puppy, you can screen breeders to find out if they have had experienced any of these health problems in their lines of dogs. A reputable breeder should be able to provide you with documentation to show whether these health concerns might be a problem with your puppy.

Another important component to Havanese health is keeping your puppy clean and well groomed. The coats of these beautiful dogs need to be brushed regularly to keep them shiny and free of tangles. Some owners prefer to clip the coats of their Havanese to make them easier to care for, especially in the warmer summer months. A monthly bath should be sufficient to keep your pet clean and healthy.

The Havanese diet is another important component in Havanese health, and most breeders will recommend feeding your pet either a high quality manufactured dog and in most cases, a dry food is preferable over a canned one. If you are concerned about some of the ingredients that are found in your commercial dog food, you can also opt to feed your dog a raw food diet. It is best to talk to your veterinarian about the best way to approach this method of feeding.

It is best to find a brand that both you and your dog like and stick with it. If you must switch food, transition your pet slowly and gently, to avoid giving your dog stomach trouble. Most breeders and veterinarians will provide a dry food over a canned product, especially for young dogs.

Along with the nutritious diet, your pup will need regular exercise, and he will enjoy it more if he gets to do it with you! Take him for a walk every day, or play a few rounds of fetch in the backyard. With daily exercise, regular grooming sessions and a healthy diet, your pet will be the healthiest and happiest that he can be.

Using Nanny Cams we are able to take care of kids properly.

Now days every person prefers working so that they can have a better living in which their whole family can be secure. For this it is very important that both the parents work as the cost of living is increasing with the time passing by. And if you are the only earning members of the family then it becomes very important that there has to be someone who will take care of your little ones when you are not at home. The best solution for this is appointing a babysitter or a nanny; after giving this way out to my friends who are career oriented they are very happy. As babysitters are very cheap and are much better than the day care.

One place where the babies feel comfortable and secured is at home as they have their favourite toys and their bed around them. In this way, Parents will also be stress-free as there is a nanny who is taking care of their tiny tots when there are at they work place. While we are away, the child learns almost everything from the stranger whom we have employed and she is the one from whom our child will learn ethics. So I was worried a lot to how to find out that my child is in safe hands. I shared my anxiety with one of my friend who had already hired a nanny for her child.

Adding to my excitement my friend suggested me to install a hidden camera so that we will come to know about the behaviour of the nanny with our child. She suggested me that she had bought the hidden camera for her house from the famous my-spycam.com. Purchasing any object online portal is a fun especially when it is for the safeties of the child then you really have to choose the right thing. I enjoyed shopping with my-spycam.com because their rates are also too reasonable which fitted budget without any hassle and I got a chance to get a glance of the variety of hidden cameras which were of much use which we can use not only for our house but also for the safety of our business or elsewhere.

Now I am relaxed that I have done a good job by installing the nanny cam in my house and I was thanking my friend for giving me such a good advice for the safety of my little one. Now my little one will not miss the cosy bed and the toys which she is used to play with all the time. Otherwise I was worried that I had to send my child the to the day care centre because there was no one else to look after her at home.

My husband and I both go for work in the morning and we are back home by late in the evening. We were worried about the growth of our child but now we are relaxed that we hired an experienced nanny for our child and if she does any mischief that we can catch her with the help of the nanny cam which we have installed in our house bought from my-spycam.com. After all the safety of the child is the priority for everyone today.

Chihuahua Breeders To Avoid

Friday, July 18th, 2008
by Sandra Dean

While anyone can put on a smiling face and tell you everything you want to hear you want to be certain that you look past the smiling face when you are talking to prospective Chihuahua breeders. You should do a lot of research before you decide to do business with any particular breeder. And any good and reputable breeder will insist that you do your research as well so that everyone is comfortable with the whole transaction. Reputable breeders have nothing to hide.

Begin your search by asking what national breeder registry the breeder belongs to. Check it out for yourself and see what you think of that registry’s breeding standards. The one registry that everyone knows is the American Kennel Club but there are other registries out there and they can all be accessed on the Internet. If a breeder does not belong to a registry this should set off a warning in your head.

Talk to your vet and ask them about the breeders that you are considering and ask them their opinion and also if they have any Chihuahua breeders they can recommend to you. If you do not have a vet then you will need one when you get the dog so there is no better time to strike up a relationship with a vet than when you are getting your first pet. Your vet is just as interested in the health and well being of your pet as you are so talk with your vet about the different breeders you are considering.

As dark as it may sound you would also benefit from a visit to the local law enforcement authorities to ask about breeders you are considering. If a breeder has a history with the local law enforcement then it may be a good idea to avoid getting involved with that breeder for your good and for the good of your future pup.

After you have gone through asking everyone else what they think of your prospective Chihuahua breeders it is now time to talk to the breeders themselves. See what their attitude is about breeding and gauge whether or not this is someone you want to do business with for many years to come.

Ask them if they intend to offer you detailed information and advice about the proper care and feeding of your Chihuahua before you take it home and if they will be giving you a food sample so you know what to feed your dog.

Choosing a good breeder is the most important step to getting a Chihuahua for you and your family. It is up to you to do the research and find out if the breeders you are considering are people you want to do business with or not.

Only you can make that determination and you should only make that determination after you have done more than sufficient research.
