The garage is one of the most underused area of a home. Most people do not even store their car in the garage. To make it more useful you should consider remodeling it and taking it from just a garage to a new part of the house. You can then use it for a variety of needs. If you do not currently store your car in the garage then there is not really a need to do so at all, so why not make it into a new room of your home. Garages can be amazing extra spaces that are more than just a catch all for clutter.

De-Clutter

It is likely your garage has become more like a storage room than anything that could be said to be a useful area. You probably have stuffed so much junk in there that you do not even know half of what is there. Start you remodeling project by cleaning out the clutter. Throw out anything you do not need and store what you do need in the attic or basement. If you have no where else to use as storage then just buy storage shelves for your garage and neatly store items in the back or in a corner.

Designing a New Space

You should think of what you would like to do with your garage. If it is attached to your home then it is a perfect extension and can be almost anything you want it to be. When it is attached to your home you can easily run electric, heat and even water to it. All it takes is a little imagination to transform it. You may even be able to add onto the garage, such as creating a space in the rafters for a small room that could be storage or a secret getaway space or even a club house for your kids.

Some Ideas

If you are stuck as to what exactly to do with your garage here are some ideas. You could change it into a laundry room. It is conveniently located and has enough space for a washer, dryer and even a table for folding clothes. Your garage could be a music studio for the music lover in your family. You may need to sound proof the walls depending upon what type of music will be played. You may even feel like improving your health and body by turning it into a gym. Your own home gym will increase the chances you can fit exercise into your daily routine. Plus it is a very easy transformation.

Tiling your Floor? Grouting Tips

Are you remodeling your home and installing tiles? While it may seem trivial, you’ll need to put some thought into the grout you’ll be using for your tiles. Grout will make a huge difference to the look and quality of your tile installation. Here are some tips to buying, applying and maintaining grout.

Choosing a color will be one thing on your to do list. White is no longer the only choice out there; there are several colors from which to choose. In fact, white will show dirt and stains more than darker colors. Choose a grouting color that will match your tiles or perhaps a color that will contrast if you want your tiling to really stand out. Also keep in mind that grout color may change and fade over time.

Make sure you invest in the right tools for the job. “Making do” with what you have will show in the quality of your work. Have tools to apply the grout such as a palette knife, spatula and trowel. These tools will help you get the grout uniform and level. It will also ensure the grout is not higher than the level of the tiles. Also make sure you have sponges and a bucket of water handy so you can wipe away excess. If you miss places or have holes in the grout then it’s not only unsightly but it can trap mold and bacteria.

Correct tile spacing is essential so take the time to layout the tiles with the desired spacing before gluing them into place. Determine how much grout you want showing; with smaller tiles you’ll generally want less space between tiles. It’s recommended that you purchase spacers so you can keep your tiles evenly and consistently spaced.

Before securing your tiles in place, make sure the ground is level. This may not seem too important but the grout will bring out the flaws. Uneven and sloping grout is not a problem with the grout; it’s a problem with the tiles being placed on unleveled flooring.

After you apply the grout you’ll need to apply a sealer. Sealing your grout is essential to protect the grout from stains and wear. Grout generally will wear faster than your tiles so it’s important to do all you can to delay it. Applying the sealer is not an easy process and should not be rushed. Like the grout, it’s important that you don’t get any sealer on the tiles themselves. It’s a tedious process but will be well worth the effort.

After everything is done and installed your job isn’t done. You’ll need to clean and maintain the grout even more than the tile. Even with a sealer, tile has a tendency to absorb liquids so dirt can cause stains and mildew can quickly grow. Keep your tile clean to ensure a long life and beautiful flooring.

Key Concepts In USB Turntable Design

As technology has proven the vinyl record long outdated, it has since given vinyl record owners a means of converting their precious audio contained in vinyl records onto a digital media. Not only will this extend the life of the audio in question, but amazing advances in technology can even repair damage that has already been done.

USB technology is employed in the USB turntable so as to give installation and setup an easy process. In fact, the common USB turntable will require little to no setup at all! This makes the act of transporting audio from a vinyl record to digital media as easy as can be, all thanks to some rather astounding advances in technology. This way, porting a large collection of audio will take no time at all.

As USB turntables have progressed over the years in technology, they have made several advances- such as allowing for the possibility of fast recording. In fact recording measures, the vinyl record is played at a faster rate than normal, recorded, and then the recorded audio is set back to the normal pace once it is saved. This cuts down on recording times that would otherwise take many hours for large collections of vinyl records.

Consumer should never be rushed in obtaining their USB turntable hardware, for they should always look out for accompanying software first. Music editing software will be incredibly necessary as many USB turntables will need to be altered on the audio level, from pitch to rate, or even to use stereo or mono specific sounds. Whatever the case, USB turntables should have support for such options and software.

While it isn’t required, some USB turntable systems will come with built-in speakers and amplifiers. These tools will allow vinyl record owners to enjoy the music anytime they want- and in many cases, while the record is even recording to the laptop or computer. This works well for trying to remember certain vinyl records for labeling and tracking purposes, but of course, isn’t a necessity.

Even better news comes to computer users of a specific brand. There is much support for users of different operating systems and designs- from Mac to Windows, and even some Linux distributions can run some of the more popular USB turntable software and hardware designs. The more expensive types of hardware can even be cross compatible, meaning that support for multiple software or hardware types is included. But as technology goes, these more expensive counterparts will set consumers back a pretty penny.

Closing Comments

Anyone who is on a budget and wants to keep their vinyl records and their audio in a safe place should invest in a USB turntable. Technology has allowed for the production of such machines to be quite minimal- meaning they are rarely over anyone’s own price budget. Because this is so, anyone with a well endowed vinyl record collection should promptly invest in an apt USB turntable.
