Which Hostess Snack Is Right For Your Party?

by Belinda Jillie

When you’re planning and hosting a party, figuring out what to serve can be a dilemma. Whether it’s an all-out dinner or not, snack foods of some kind are usually expected.

It’s essential to plan out a range of hostess snack foods to serve in advance, so you’ll have an organized list to choose from every time you host a get together. Go ahead, try out some of these and make note of your favorites.

Just remember to store your list in the same place you keep all your other recipes. That way, you won’t lose it and find yourself desperate for ideas.

Hot Artichoke Spinach Dip: This stuff disappears fast at parties! It’s best complemented by pieces of French bread, tortilla chips, crackers, or even veggies such as carrot sticks. Note: Although some variations of this recipe recommend nuts, it’s safest to avoid nuts. You never know who has nut allergies.

-2 jars of marinated artichoke hearts, drained and chopped -2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese (low-fat works well, but avoid nonfat, because it won’t melt well) -1 cup grated parmesan cheese -1 clove garlic, minced -1 cup mayonnaise

Preheat oven to 275 degrees Fahrenheit. Combine all the above ingredients in a nice (decorative) baking dish. Bake until hot and bubbling, about 45 minutes. Don’t forget to warn your guests that it’s hot.

Sandwich Loaf: A hostess snack standard from the seventies, this main dish always impresses people at a luncheon!

- 1 big loaf of fresh white bread - 3 sandwich fillings, your choice — you might prefer egg salad, ham salad, etc. You can also use thin slices of deli meats. - 1/4 cup of margarine, softened - 2 packages of cream cheese, softened - 1/2 cup of half and half

Trim the crusts from the loaf of bread, so they’re rectangular in shape. Cut it horizontally into four large slices.

Butter one slice of bread and lay face-up on the serving platter. Spread evenly with one sandwich filling.

Continue layering buttered bread and sandwich fillings. Combine the cream cheese and half and half to create a frosting, and frost the loaf thickly.

Garnish with parsley. Slice vertically for individual servings.

Don’t forget to have fun at your gathering once you serve the perfect hostess snack!

It’s tough to imagine a life without alcohol after abusing it for many years. Other myths state that getting over an alcohol addiction is just a matter of being confident and having willpower. In reality, the body can create a physical dependency on alcohol that will create terrible withdrawal symptoms should an alcoholic ever try to detoxify themselves. Cheap Security Camera Can Still Provide Cause For Pause

It is often said that something is better than nothing, and even a cheap security camera can provide a business or homeowner with a feeling of being protected. While even the most expensive cameras and surveillance systems cannot guarantee the security of a building or grounds, the presence of even a cheap security camera may cause a would-be burglar to think twice before entering the property. Significantly, it is difficult to tell the difference in the quality of a security cameras when it is hidden behind a camera case and burglars are not usually willing to gamble on the quality of the recorded image.

Some of the discount stores and home improvement stores offer a selection of cheap security cameras, offered as part of a security kit that includes a video monitor. Setting up the cameras, usually four in the average kit, is relatively easy, but hiding all the cables and power supplies for the camera can be tricky. However, those with experience in installing cable for their television on extending their own telephone lines can usually realize a professional-looking installation without too much difficulty.

It is worthy to insure the wiring for even the economical security camera is hidden from view and unreachable from others to prevent them from being dented, rendering the system ineffective. Assembling the recorder and other pieces of a security system in a secure location can also better the chances of images from a cheap security camera can be available when needed for evaluation.

Saving Images Depends On Security Needs - Not everyone that has an issue in their home or business may realize they have a problem immediately. It could be days or a few weeks before the need for the recording from the cheap security camera becomes apparent. Too many individuals and businesses, if they do not see a problem, simply use the same tape or digital disk, recording over it and not reviewing it until they see the need. If days go by, the needed recording may have already been rerecorded and unavailable.

How long an individual or business preserves their collection of videos will depend on their perceived need. The industry average is sustaining the complete library for about 30 days, with a different tape used every day. Even when using quality recording equipment with a low-priced security camera, tapes should be interchanged after 10 uses to prevent them from scuffing and ruining the latest recordings.
