Cartridge Rolls For Deburring

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008
by Hispanic

Cartridge rolls are among the several types of deburring tools. They are often manufactured by wrapping abrasive cloth materials to specific-sized mandrel. There are many kinds of deburring catridge rolls. They include silicon carbide grain, aluminum oxide grain, or alumina grain. They are mostly configured for deburring, blending, polishing and deflashing. In most cases, fresh abrasive grain is on the outer layer of the cartridge. Such rolls are available in different lengths and sizes.

Designed to be durable and virtually indestructible, cartridge rolls can be straight, half-taper, full taper and sidewall. Effective in removing edge breaking and machine tool marks, such rolls are often connected to a hand-held deburring tool.

Generally, deburring is a finishing process used mostly in manufacturing and industrial settings. Parts and materials with burrs are smooth off. Burrs are protrusions, chips, shavings, nicks and other unwanted particles. They are mostly found on metal, plastic and wood surfaces. They are not considered to be parts of the original body. They need to be removed or smooth out to maintain product quality. It is also essential to obtain better functionality, appearance and better operations of the parts.

Speaking of the other forms of deburring, there are many methods to achieving deburring; hand deburring, semiautomatic deburring, abrasive flow machining, thermal energy method, electrochemical machining, high pressure deburring, and so on and so forth. Nevertheless, only hand and semiautomatic deburring involves cartridge rolls, and such instances involve repetitive grinding and filing motion.

The use of cartridge rolls may take extra effort on your part, compared to using other tools. Then again, it’s the best tool to be used when controlled or steady deburring is need, or else the part or material will be thrown, which can cause you injury or worse. Keep in mind, always use fresh rolls after every deburring, because they have a tendency to wear out.

How to Use Homeschool Lesson Plans Effectively

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008
by Kayley Kenzie

Using theme-based learning is a great and fun way to homeschool your child. You and your child can brainstorm a theme from any topic that your child is interested in.

For younger children, you can choose themes like apples, birds, zoo, stars, or even a favorite author. When you choose theme-based learning, your homeschool lesson plans will be more creative, interesting, and fun.

When basing your homeschool lesson plans around a thematic unit, you will want to decide how much time you will need to cover that specific theme.

It depends largely on how much your child wants to learn the theme, how deeply he or she wants to explore it. You could spend anywhere from a week to a month on particular theme. I suggest spending just two weeks on a theme.

Integrating themes into homeschool lesson plans is not very difficult. You will also realize how much fun you and your child can have by basing all the learning around one theme.

You don’t actually have to integrate all subject matter into a single thematic unit. In fact, you don’t even need to do theme-based learning all the time when coming up with your homeschool lesson plans.

One important idea to consider is involving your child in the planning process. Let your child choose some of the themes to focus on.

Giving children choices usually enhances interest in what you are trying to teach. I think it is important to have your child involved as much as possible in all areas of lesson plan preparation.

Let’s look at an example to see how using themes in your homeschooling lesson plans would work. For example, if we were to do a thematic unit on apples, we could have a science lesson on how apples grow.

We could work on fractions by dividing the apple into various slices. We could learn about Johnny Appleseed in Social Studies. We could even read all sorts of books about apples and write a paragraph about apples in Language Arts.

Using the cut up apple slices from math, we could make apple stamps for an Art lesson. We could also find songs that have lyrics with apples in them. It would even be fun to do some cooking by making applesauce or apple bread.

Integrating your child’s interests is one of the most important things to remember when using theme-based homeschool lesson plans. It makes learning even more fun and interesting when you tailor the curriculum you’ve already planned into thematic units.

Themes and Baby Shower Decorations Make Your Event Perfect

Need to plan a baby shower, but don’t want the stress? With proper planning, and some help from a few friends or family, you can create a very special day for the mother-to-be.

A baby shower is a gift to the ‘mother to be’, and a wonderful way to express your feelings toward her. This event can help the new parents prepare for the changes about to occur.

There are three basic tips I would share to help you plan the perfect shower. Select a theme, create a task list, and beg, borrow, and bride help from friends and family.

A great way to find a theme for your baby shower is to look at suppliers of baby shower decorations to see what is available commercially. These suppliers have patterns, also known as themes, that can assist you in the planning of your shower. These themes can provide a basis for decorating your event, and can add a professional flair to the style you exhibit for the guest of honor. They don’t only benefit the host of the shower, but also the guests by creating a festive atmosphere for the celebration.

Matching a theme to the guest of honor is easy when you look at the variety of decorating patterns available. Think about the guest of honor - is she expecting twins? Is the child a boy or a girl? Do they not know the gender of the baby yet? Is the mom traditional? Are you trying to have a quite, or boisterous event. Pick a theme that matches your situation.

Next, you need to create your checklist for the shower. Around six weeks in advance, you should be selecting a location, confirming the date (make sure the date works for the guest of honor!), and developing a guest list. A budget will be extremely helpful in determining the type of event you want to host. Wonderful showers can be held on a limited budget if you plan carefully. Think about the cost(s) for your decorations, invitations, food, games, activities, and party favors. A sample set of task and budget worksheets and a variety of other planning tools are available in the baby shower planning section of many party supply websites.

Start working on your menu, your invitee list, and your activities. This is an opportunity to start getting friends and family involved. Everyone loves to make the new mother feel special, so ask everyone if they want to help - you’ll get lots of offers! Then, have a list of small projects for each person to choose from. These smaller projects can be things like coming up with a centerpiece, addressing the invitations, brining an appetizer, finding and ordering the cake, and other tasks. When you give someone a task, make sure you’ve given them enough specifics to keep everyone’s stress down. Make sure they know when it needs to be done by, and if there are any budget constraints.

30 - 35 days ahead of your event, buy your invitations. Most invitations are available with matching decorations and tableware in a theme. You can buy stock, or custom printed baby shower invitations that match your theme, and get your decorations at the same time.

Around four weeks ahead of time, order any baby shower party supplies you need so that you can make sure they arrive in time. Get those invitations out into the mail, and enlist the help of volunteers for any projects you have.

Three weeks from the event, follow-up on all the activities you’ve asked for help from others. Make sure everything is done well in advance so that if anyone has questions, or has had something come up that causes them not to be able to complete their task, you can graciously take care of it.

At least 2 weeks before the shower, make sure any bakery or cake issues have been addressed, and that the baker has all the instructions for the cake. Review your checklists again to help assure you haven’t missed any critical items.

The week before the shower is a great time to prepare in advance any food you are cooking, so long as it can be easily frozen and then thawed, heated and served the day of the event. Review the RSVP list to finalize the amount of food, drinks, etc., you will need.

A couple days before the shower, you might want to start the set-up of the location. Get furniture, chairs, tables, etc., arranged the way you want them.

On the day before the shower, remember to thaw any previously cooked and frozen items if they need it. Decorate the room, tables, and such.

On the day of the baby shower, try to get any balloon bouquets filled and or delivered that day. Latex Balloons don’t float that long, so you want them fresh. Same with the flowers. You might want to snap a picture for the keepsake book as well. Do a final review with your helpers, and then, RELAX - YOU ARE READY!

Lastly, have FUN!

Offset your carbon footprint in the best way possible!

by Bob Young

Encouraging your workmates to recycle, catch public transport to work, and use energy efficient lightbulbs while admirable, is unlikely to be enough to offset your company’s carbon footprint!

So what next? What are you going to do to bring your company to a carbon neutral position? There are a few ways you can go about this, but the most interesting, unique, and worthwhile ways is a project in Ireland which aims to reforest the countryside of that wonderful country.

It is generally agreed that for every two trees you plant, you offset a ton of carbon. This is why the ethos behind Rooted in Ireland is so good. They plant oak trees for you, you offset your carbon footprint, and Ireland gets more trees to replace the ones taken from it by centuries of destruction…..whats not to like?

I am sure that you will be suprised to hear that the most treeless land in Europe is Ireland.

Rooted in Ireland’s oak planting project is situated in a beautiful part of Ireland, close the historic city of Armagh, and surrounded by rolling hills and mountain ranges!

Imagine the satisfaction you can have knowing that you’re not only offsetting your company’s carbon footprint by having memorial oak trees planted through Rooted in Ireland, but you’re also bringing back an important part of the natural history to a proud and beautiful region through your donation.

For just under $100 you can offset approximately one-half ton of your carbon emissions through the planting of a single memorial oak tree at the Rooted in Ireland site. These trees will live complete lives where they are planted in Ireland. They will not be cut down, but will stand as living memorials to your dedication to stop global warming. To remind you of your company’s part in the fight to reduce carbon emissions, you will receive a certificate, a photograph of the site and a personalized letter. Your name will be entered into our ledger and as people visit, they will also be reminded of your contribution.

It is such a good thing to offset your carbon footprint in any way that you wish! However, knowing that you are helping bring back trees to the landscape of magical, mystical Ireland has to be worth a little extra!

Fighting climate change can be a pleasurable battle to wage, especially if you help enrich a historic region whose history and people have made the world a richer place already! Give back in a big way, reduce your company’s carbon footprint by planting memorial oak trees.

Baby Sitter Wanted: Why You Shouldn’t Look on Your Own

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008
by Rashel Dan

Perhaps you may think that posting a baby sitter wanted on your window is the best way to get the help you need. But is it? You should think twice though. There are difficulties and disadvantages to looking for a sitter on your own.

Looking for Your Own Sitter

You may prefer to look for your own sitter yourself. This may make you feel like you are in better control of your options. You will also be cutting the cost of fees that sitter agencies and services charge. The advantages of performing your own search may be tempting. There are however, some disadvantages that you should be aware of.

- Time - It can take a lot of time for you to find an ideal sitter. This may be well and good if you want to be extra sure that you have the right person. Then again, this may not work out well for you if you want a sitter at the soonest possible time. Waiting for the right one to come along may mean that you would have to postpone whatever you need to do to take care of the kids.

- Ad Response - Good prospects for your baby sitter wanted ad do not come all the time. This is especially true if your ad is only restricted to one area. You may only be advertising in your neighborhood or immediate locality. This may therefore significantly restrict your options.

- Inconvenience - Looking for a sitter on your own means doing everything on your own. This includes checking references and performing background checks. This may be a tedious task on your part. It is especially so if you are not very familiar with the certifications and documents that you would need a sitter to get to prove her clean background. Even if you do manage to perform a good background check, there is still the task of carefully assessing sitter skills and capabilities.

- Limited Choice - Looking on your own will limit you to just one hired sitter. This may be to your disadvantage. You may need only one sitter but there is no guarantee that your sitter will always be around. Even the best sitters may have to take some time off for important personal and family matters. That would leave you with no replacement sitter.

Sitter Services

Today, another popular option would be to engage the help of an online service. Now you don’t need to manually look for a good sitter. Online services can do that for you. Sitter services list potential sitters in your area. You get to have your pick on ideal candidates. If you pay a higher membership fee, you will also be given access to important sitter information such as character background.

Many sitter services can give you great benefits. They do not however, take away your right to choose and decide. After picking a few prospects from the list in your area, you are given the opportunity to interview your prospects.

If you have a good online service, chances are, you wouldn’t need a baby sitter wanted ad. Everything you need to find a good sitter is at your finger tips.
