The Blonde, the Brunette and the vengeful Redhead is a one-man play from the brilliant mind of Australian playwright, Robert Hewett. The play composed of a 7 character monologue-all in differentsettings, costumes and character descriptions. The play indeed poses as a big challenge to whoever actress will do it because of the 7 characters she has to portray. Three main characters cast the superb play- a blonde, a redhead and a brunette.

Indicatively, an all around and versatile performer/ actress would very much fit this play. She has to internalized each character to allow the audience to mistook that there are plenty of character actors portraying the characters, when in fact it only has one. A superb actress can indeed pull it off and deserves a standing ovation.

The story is way complicated because the actress will portray all seven roles which includes the Blonde, the Brunette and the Redhead. It is a difficult task-being able to portray 7 characters at the same time and only a versatile actress can do this. The play can be a huge break for a starting actress. Great stage design is a plus and should feature 6 concealed panels that will serve as the dressing area of the actress all throughout the monologue.

The play is an over-all comic play that tells of the story of Rhonda, an unattractive and fat red haired wife of a good for nothing, cheating husband. She was the main character of the story. The actress plays six more characters including the lusty blonde named Tanya, and the scheming brunette Lynette- who happens to be Rhonda’s neighbor and bestfriend. The story unfolds when Rhonda desperately seeks out her husband’s attention.

Rhonda goes to jail by commiting murder on a blonde girl she wrongly accuses to be her husband’s lover. The blonde girl left a lesbian Doctor lover and a young son. The character of Lynette is equally engaging as that of Rhonda’s since she plays the devil’s advocate in the story.

It is a comic thrill with a hint of mystery. A great theatre play for a talented actress longing for her big break.

The standard light bulb is very simply structured. On the base, you have two metal contacts, which then connect to the ends of the bulbs electrical circuit. The two metal contacts are attached to two strong wires, and they connect to a thin filament of metal. This filament is located in the middle of the bulb and is held in place by a glass mount. All of this, the wires and the filament, are housed in a glass bulb, which will be filled with an inert gas like argon.

When a light bulb is connected to a power supply, the electrical current runs from one metal contact to the other, moving through the filament and all the wires. Electrical current in a solid conductor is measurable by the movement of free electrons (ones that detach themselves from atoms) from an area with a negative charge to an area with a positive charge.

As electrons bolt through the filament, they are constantly colliding with the atoms in the filament. The energy of each collision vibrates an atom, basically, the current heats up the atoms. A finer conductor heats up quicker than a thicker one as it has a greater resistance to the movement of electrons.

Bound electrons in the vibrating atoms may be boosted temporarily to a higher energy level. When they fall back to their normal levels, the electrons release the extra energy in the form of photons. Metal atoms release mostly infrared light photons, which are invisible to the human eye. But if they are heated to a high enough level — around 4,000 degrees Fahrenheit (2,200 degrees C) in the case of a light bulb — they will emit a good deal of visible light.

The actual filament inside a light bulb consists of a long, very fine piece of tungsten metal. Almost all incandescent light bulbs use tungsten because it is simply prefect to use as filament material. Most metals melt long before reaching the very high temperatures needed to produce visible light, the extreme vibration breaks the rigid bonds between the atoms, therefore the material becomes liquid. Tungsten is used in lightbulbs because it has an extremely high melting point. However, tungsten will ingnite at these high temperatures, given the right conditions. Ignition is caused by two chemicals reacting, which is triggered by one chemical reaching its combustion temperature. On this planet, combustion is usually a result of oxygen in the atmosphere reacting with some heated material, but of course there are other chemical combinations that combust. The filament inside a light bulb is contained in an air-tight chamber with no oxygen at all to avoid combustion. Early light bulbs had all the air sucked out of them to create a near vacuum, and there were no gases in the bulb (hardly any) no reaction could occur, therefore the bulb couldn’t combust.

The problem with this approach was the evaporation of the tungsten atoms. At such extreme temperatures, the occasional tungsten atom vibrates enough to detach from the atoms around it and flies into the air. In a vacuum bulb, free tungsten atoms shoot out in a straight line and collect on the inside of the glass. As more and more atoms evaporate, the filament starts to disintegrate, and the glass starts to get darker. This reduces the life of the bulb considerably.

However, in modern day light bulbs, inert gases are used inside them to reduce the loss of tungsten, usually argon. So when an atom of tungsten seperates itself from the filament (evaporates), it is highly likely that it will bounce off an atom of argon and be pushed back towards the filament to rejoin the tungsten structure. Because inert gases are normally unreactive with all other elements, it will not create a combustion reaction within the light bulb.

Incandescent light bulbs give off most of their energy in the form of heat-carrying infrared light photons — only about 10 percent of the light produced is in the visible spectrum. This wastes a lot of electricity. Cool light sources, such as fluorescent lamps and LEDs, don’t waste a lot of energy generating heat — they give off mostly visible light. For this reason, they are slowly edging out the old reliable light bulb.
